Research Fellow

Animesh is a social scientist working at the intersection of digital health, public health, ethics, health systems, nursing education, migration, gender, health equity and climate–sustainability nexus. His research examines how technologies, policies, and health interventions are interpreted, adopted, resisted, and integrated into everyday educational, clinical, and community settings. His contributions to global scholarship are demonstrated through invited presentations at international conferences and a comprehensive record of publications in high-impact journals. As the principal investigator on competitively funded projects, he translates evidence into policy and practice to promote equity in global health.

Project: Health and Energy Access: Reducing Thermal-labour in Households (HeARTh)
November 2024- February 2026
Funding Body: Climate Change Fund
CCF-1112-NP
Role: Principal Investigator
USD 222,410

Project Detail

Lead a technology-driven public health and energy-access initiative aimed at expanding electric cooking access in Madhesh Province, Nepal. The implementation strategy is informed by the concept of “thermal labour,” which highlights the unrecognised health burdens associated with cooking in extreme heat. This project investigates how clean cooking technologies can mitigate household health risks and promote energy justice for marginalised Dalit women. It is particularly relevant to broader discussions about the adoption, interpretation, and sustainability of health-promoting technologies in everyday domestic practices, especially within resource-
constrained and socially marginalised communities.
